Please join us in welcoming not one but TWO new chiropractors to the AlignLife Family! This power couple is taking over the Preston, NC area. We can’t wait to see all the lives they change! We want our patients to be able to connect both personally and professionally to their doctors. To help accomplish that, we put together a New Clinic Spotlight for all incoming franchisees to give an insight to how they tick.
Dr. Marian Ortiz
What made you want to become a Chiropractor?
Experiencing benefits in my health, especially a significant decrease in migraine episodes that were preventing me from living a happy, normal teenage life. It changed my life way beyond the neck pain, which was the reason I started care.
What technique do you practice and what are the benefits?
Full-spine technique which consists of a High Velocity Low Amplitude force that helps restore normal range of motion in the joint. The main objectives of this technique are to restore spinal alignment, repair joint dysfunction, and enhance proper movement.
What is your favorite thing that patients ask you about?
I love when patients ask me for little tips and things that they can do at home to improve posture, decrease pain, have more energy, sleep better..etc. The truth is that we only see our patients for a very small part of their week. When they implement healthy habits at home, it not only makes a huge difference in their health but also lets me know that they are truly committed.
What is one thing you see all the time in your community that can be helped with Chiropractic?
Poor posture. As a doctor of chiropractic, I can assist people with proper posture, including recommending exercises to strengthen their core postural muscles. Having good posture helps us stand, walk, sit, and lie in positions that place the least strain on our muscles and ligaments during movement and weight-bearing activities. Having good posture decreases abnormal wearing of joint surfaces that could potentially result in degenerative arthritis and joint pain. It minimizes the chances of injury, allows muscles to work efficiently, and helps prevent overuse disorders.
If you could give your community just one health tip, what would it be?
MOVE! Find any opportunity to move, climb stairs two by two instead of taking an elevator, take your pet on walks, go to the park with your children, your loved ones. MOVE BECAUSE IT IS THE KEY TO LIFE!

What’s the number one item you would save from your burning house?

Aside from necessities, what is one thing could you not go a day without?
Coffee and good music.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Indulging in a piece of cake or cookies.
Why did you choose the area you are practicing in?
Ever since I started dating my now Fiance, Dr. Matt, back in Chiropractic school we would visit his family in Raleigh, Cary area and it always felt like a home away from home. When it came down to choosing a location for our practice, there was no doubt it had to be somewhere in there.
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

What made you want to become a Chiropractor?
I suffered a severe back injury at the age of 14 during a soccer game. This injury kept me from doing basic tasks such as sitting, standing, getting dressed, and bending. It even made me wonder if I would ever play sports again. So I visited a Chiropractor for the first time and it changed my life. It wasn’t long before I was back on the soccer field. After that, I knew I wanted to help other people the way the Chiropractor helped me.
What technique do you practice and what are the benefits?
Full Spine approach is all about understanding how the body works together as a whole. It entails High Velocity Low Amplitude force which helps restore normal range of motion in the joint. The main objectives of this technique are to restore spinal alignment, repair joint dysfunction, and enhance proper movement.
What is your favorite thing that patients ask you about?
I love when patients ask me if Chiropractic can help their spouse, kid, friend, family etc like it has helped them. The truth is I don’t know if I can help them until I do a history and examination. But I love the question because it means there is a chance another person begins a new health journey through chiropractic. It shows that the patient is now understanding how beneficial Chiropractic care has been in their life and wants to share that with someone else.
What is one thing you see all the time in your community that can be helped with Chiropractic?
One of the most common things I see in the community is that everyone seems stressed, tired, and on edge. Most people think this is normal. It is COMMON but is not NORMAL to feel this way. Chiropractic has a profound impact on physical, mental, and chemical stress in our bodies. Our body is designed to be NORMAL and HEALTHY.
If you could give your community just one health tip, what would it be?
Everything in life comes down to choices. Every choice you make is leading you closer to health or further away. When we start filling our days with healthier choices, we are heading on the right path.
