strawberry shortcake biscuit with fresh cut strawberries and whip cream

Easy Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 Tbsp granulated sugar

1 Tbsp baking powder

1/4 cup cold salted butter, cubed

1 cup cold milk

1 lb fresh strawberries, sliced

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  3. Cut in butter until the mixture appears like coarse crumbs.
  4. Add in milk and stir until a dough forms.
  5. Drop the dough into eight heaping mounds on a parchment-covered baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the biscuits are cooking, slice strawberries into quarters. You can sprinkle them lightly with some sugar, drizzle honey over them, or simply enjoy the natural sweetness of the strawberries.
  8. Once the biscuits have cooled, slice them in half and layer the strawberries and whipped cream (if using) on top.
