(Health Secrets) Are there toxic chemicals in personal care products you use everyday? When you can’t pronounce the ingredients in the products you’ve bought, they are most likely chemicals and probably toxic to varying degrees. Although chemical names may be really long, the molecules they represent are usually small enough to penetrate directly through your skin into the bloodstream, causing a host of health problems.
Infants are most at risk from toxic chemicals in personal care products due to their under developed detoxification capabilities and their porous skin. Fragrances in personal care products are usually lab created secret chemical cocktails that can easily penetrate a child’s skin and end up directly in the blood stream. Fragrances irritate the eyes and lungs, cause allergies and asthma, and are totally unnecessary.
If you don’t think the lotions, gels, shampoos and other personal care products you put on your skin get absorbed into your body, take a look at prescription patches. A woman can put a 2×2 inch patch on her skin and it can provide enough medication into her blood stream to prevent pregnancy! If a 2×2 inch area can do that, what do you think happens when you rub toxic chemicals in personal care products onto you head or all over your body, especially during or right after a hot shower when you pores are wide open?
Users of personal care products must read the ingredient list carefully, because many so-called natural plant based products often contain harmful ingredients.
Two Common Ingredients To Avoid Are:
Parabens: methyl, ethyl, propyl, benzyol and benzyl parabens
Parabens are common preservatives often found intact within breast tumors. They mimic estrogen, and there is a correlation between unbalanced estrogen and breast cancer.
Sulfates: sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate
Sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), found in virtually every commercial non-organic body product, is regulated as a pesticide. SLS and other common sulfates are known to be toxic to the liver, intestines and reproductive system and are implicated in cancer, yet they are still found in most baby products.
Try using organic lotions and organic perfumes instead of the conventional chemical formulations and fragrance. As a general rule, if it has more than a few syllables and can’t be pronounced, it shouldn’t be eaten or used on the body.
