(Health Secrets) Does having a yeast infection make you feel dependent on drugs? It doesn’t have to, because natural remedies are just as effective as drugs and work just as quickly. And unlike drugs, they can lessen the chances for another infection in the future.
Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of yeast which can affect the skin (yeast rash), mouth (thrush), digestive tract, esophagus, vagina (vaginitis), and other parts of the body. Yeast infections occur most frequently in moist areas. Although Candida albicans and other Candida yeasts are the most frequent offenders, other yeast groups are also known to cause illness. These include Torulopsis, Cryptococcus, Malassezia, and Trichosporon yeasts. Here are some natural remedies and tips which may help.
Vaginal Yeast Infections
Colloidal silver is amazingly effective against vaginal yeast infection. A superior brand of colloidal silver can be used both internally by mouth, and vaginally by coating a tampon with a combination of colloidal silver, a few drops of tea tree oil and aloe vera jel. This can be inserted into the vagina and left for 30-40 minutes. Likewise, douches with colloidal silver and a few drops of tea tree oil can get rid of yeast infections.
The maddening itch of a yeast infection can be eased with a suppository made with boric acid. Although its name sounds harsh, boric acid acts as a mild antiseptic and has antiviral and antifungal properties. One suppository every night can be inserted as long as needed for up to 14 days. If you don’t find these suppositories in your natural food store, ask your pharmacist to make them for you.
Yogurt is effective too. Dip a tampon in a container of organic non-sweetened yogurt that contains active cultures, then insert it into the vagina and leave for 30-40 minutes.
Tips for preventing vaginal yeast infections:
Practice good feminine hygiene. Wash the vulva and anal areas with mild soap and water at least once daily and after each bowel movement, if possible. The bowels harbor bacteria and fungi that can travel to the vulva area. Always wipe from front to back, away from the vagina.
Do not use commercial douche products. By disturbing the normal acidity of vaginal secretions, douching may create more problems.
Make it a rule that anything that goes into the vagina, such as diaphragms and other contraceptive devices, be thoroughly clean.
Discontinue use of tampons when yeast infection is present and switch to cotton underwear and pantyhose with cotton crotche. Don’t wear skintight pants.
If a yeast infection is present, avoid sexual intercourse. It is a good idea to have your partner also treated for yeast infection if you have repeated episodes.
Other Yeast Infections:
For external yeast infections in the folds of skin and male yeast infections, apply a mixture of colloidal silver and a few drops of tea tree oil. For best results keep the area moistened with the silver/tea tree oil for several minutes and repeat 2-3 times daily until the yeast infection is gone.
For internal yeast infections, take two or more ounces daily of a superior colloidal silver product until the yeast infection is gone. This works well and quickly for Candida (see below). If thrush is present, gargle for several seconds with the silver before swallowing.
To keep yeast infections at bay, do one treatment of topical silver and tea tree oil every one to two weeks. A mostly raw, mostly vegetable diet can be essential for both treating existing yeast infections and preventing future ones. Dietary recommendations can be found online for “Candida Diet”.
Candida
Many Candida species are members of gut flora in mammalian hosts including humans. If you want to get rid of Candida and remove it from the intestinal walls, take the following steps:
Use colloidal silver to get rid of Candida in short order. Be sure to take plenty (a couple of ounces or more per day) and it may only take a few days.
Bentonite clay will literally pull Candida off the intestinal walls.
Coconut oil is very effective against Candida and is a wonderful addition to any healthy diet plan.
After you get rid of Candida, make a tablespoon of coconut oil part of your daily diet/health plan. Supplement with probiotics to make sure that beneficial bacteria flourish in the gut. Occasionally take some colloidal silver (only a couple of teaspoons two or three times a week should be plenty) along with using bentonite clay, and your Candida problems should be gone forever.
Note: most yeast infections occur in people whose immune systems are compromised and/or whose intestinal flora is out of balance. To keep yeast infections at bay it is important to build a strong immune system and keep your intestinal flora balanced. A good diet and healthy lifestyle will go a long way towards accomplishing those goals.
