(Boletín de secretos de salud) El bisfenol A (BPA) es un compuesto orgánico utilizado en la fabricación de resinas y plástico de policarbonato. Se ha convertido en una epidemia en nuestra cultura dependiente del plástico.. Muchos de los que saben dicen que el BPA es un peligro para la salud que no solo afecta a nuestra población actual., but there is evidence it is passed on from delivering mothers to newborns as well.
Unlike health agencies in other nations that rely heavily on plastics, American health agencies are doing nothing to restrict BPA. Only the economic backlash from aware consumers has had some impact on some manufacturers and food processors. There have been several studies performed and written up that have discovered natural nutrients to fight BPA toxicity.
BPA is an endocrine disrupter that synthetically mimics estrogen to create hormone disruption and imbalance. It can lead to infertility, sexual or gender confusion, diabetes, and eventually even cancer.
BPA is used in most plastic bottles, the inner linings of beverage and food cans, inks for store receipts, printers and paper money, and some cosmetics and clothing apparel. The CDC reported in 2004 that BPA appeared in the urine of over 90% of the 3,000 they tested nationwide.
Though the CDC presumed this study indicated a widespread BPA presence in Americans, they refused to acknowledge BPA’s toxicity. They seem to have ignored reports by several scientists and health professionals who have discovered and confirmed BPA’s health hazards over the past decade. So far, the FDA hasn’t done anything about BPA either.
Canada was the first nation to ban some BPA products in 2010, and some EU nations have followed that lead.
Taking care of yourself by yourself
Avoid all the items listed above as much as possible. Some plastic container manufacturers and food processors are beginning to promote their products as BPA free. Look for those and avoid the rest. Receipts, printer ink, and paper money are another issue. If your job requires handling those items for hours, wear gloves.
The nutrients that can reduce or eliminate BPA toxicity from your body are listed below. Curiosamente, most are probiotics. Don’t fall for the probiotic hype from conventional store sold commercial yogurts. You’re better off getting high quality probiotic supplements with several types of bacteria in massive quantities, or making your own kefir, yogur, and fermented foods.
Strains of probiotic bacteria that are particular desirable are:
- Bifidobacterium 3
- Bifidobacterium Breve
- Lactobacillus casei
- Bacillus pumilus
Other ways to increase your friendly bacteria population and keep them happy are:
- Melatonina (helps you sleep well too)
- Black Tea
- Fermented Foods and Beverages (try making your own kefirs)
- Kimchi (a Korean fermented food)
- Royal Jelly (a concentrate from bee pollen)
- Folic Acid (folate food products or food source supplements are best)
- Genistein (an obscure supplement that you can purchase)
These have been discovered or confirmed by at least one in vitro (lab) or in vivo (animal/human) estudiar. Some have been covered by more than one study.
The most commonly tested items are specific probiotic strains or probiotics in general, and fermented foods. So obviously whatever supplies probiotics in high numbers is essential. If you buy probiotic supplements, you can see which bacteria strains are available on the labels.
There are ways to create fermented foods and milk (raw milk is ideal) or water kefirs (with purified water). You’ll have to search the internet for “starter grain” sources. Or if you are in or near a network that cooperates with providing kefir starter grains, look into that. It’s the least expensive route for consuming lots of probiotics.
Antibiotics destroy all kinds of bacteria, including the good guys or probiotic strains that are very important for both the immune system and digestion. Avoid pharmaceutical antibiotics as much as possible. Also be aware of taking in antibiotics indirectly through factory farmed meats and non-organic dairies. Factory farm livestock are injected with antibiotics to prevent infection from overcrowded and unsanitary conditions.
Apparently, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has decided to investigate into the dangers of BPA because of public reaction to numerous independent tests conducted internationally.
The EPA could register BPA as a toxic substance. Containers manufactured with BPA piling up in dumps and landfills which leach into ground water also present an environmental hazard. So now the EPA is looking into BPA as an environmental health hazard after a bit of public outcry.
The EPA may wait until all forms of life start having unusual sexual or gender developments and mutations from BPA before stepping in, if they step in at all. Health agencies, especially in the USA, tend to protect industry until the consumer toxicity toll from the suspected item gets too obvious to ignore by the mainstream media.
We have to become educated, limit our use of plastics and other BPA products personally, and take advantage of the accessible nutrients that prevent or minimize BPA damage. Be proactive and take action yourself.
