(Health Secrets) It’s hard to spend time in front of the TV without hearing the hype for Tamiflu. You would think it’s a miracle drug that cures flu. But the truth is that despite its expense, Tamiflu is only partially effective. And the side effects are so hair raising that it is amazing they sell any at all. Several New York Times articles have reported that Tamiflu does not live up to its advertised promise, and even the World Health Organization (WHO) has admitted that Tamiflu is not as effective as previously believed.
But there is an alternative remedy for most if not all type A and B flu viruses. Black Elderberry is a natural remedy that has no side effects and is inexpensive. You can even make your own. Black Elderberry is a remedy has been around for quite some time as a cold cure. And recent clinical trials in Israel and Norway have proven that Black Elderberry extract is much more effective against flu than Tamiflu.
Tamiflu Hazards
The Australian Sydney Herald has reported a Japanese study on the side effects of Tamiflu. A major reason for the study was to determine if Japan should lift its ban on Tamiflu which, the Herald article stated, was very unlikely because of the of the frightening results of that study.
In 10,000 test cases of Tamiflu use by young people under 18, over half exhibited unusual behavior after taking the drug. That behavior was sometimes as extreme as attempting or committing suicide. Eighteen deaths among young Japanese were associated with taking Tamiflu.
In England a national TV presenter went on air and reported his child’s near death from Tamiflu. There have been several other less famous or dramatic reports throughout Europe as well. It seems children and teenagers are the most afflicted with Tamiflu’s side effects.
Black Elderberry to the Rescue
A clinical trial during a severe flu outbreak around 1992-93 in Israel confirmed a perfect cure rate with Black Elderberry in severe flu cases there. Another study performed in Oslo, Norway also confirmed the amazing efficacy of Black Elderberry for type A or B flu of several different strains. Most Black Elderberry results occurred within two days, while a few required three days. Tamiflu alleviated symptoms in 4.5 to 5 days, if the patient was not overcome with side effects. It took 6 days or more for flu victims on placebos to recover.
What was tested in both Israel and Norway was a Black Elderberry extract product called Sambucol. There were no side effects from taking this inexpensive flu treatment. At the end of this article there is a simple Black Elderberry tinctured extract recipe. In other words, you can be empowered by making an abundant supply of this extract or tincture to have on hand for any type of flu.
Elderberry has a very high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity), over twice that of blueberries. In addition, antioxidants in Elderberry called flavonoids stimulate the immune system. Other compounds in Elderberry, called anthocyanins, have an anti-inflammatory action, which explains Elderberry’s positive effect on aches, pains, and fever.
Here’s that recipe for making your own Black Elderberry extract tincture to keep around for any bouts of any type of flu that come along. You can keep this tincture around for a long time since tinctures are preserved in alcohol and can be stored in a dark space at room temperature for years.
Simple Black Elderberry Extract Tincture Recipe
(1) Clean a large jar, preferably a mason jar. Fill one-third of the container with dried Elderberries (These must be Sambucus Nigra or Black Elderberries)
(2) Now fill to almost the top with 100 proof vodka. It may be cheaper to use 190 proof pure grain alcohol mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Put the lid on tight.
(3) Store in a dark cupboard and gently shake once every day.
(4) Label and date your jar. Let it “brew” for at least 30 days before you strain and use it. You can use it without straining it too. It’ll get stronger. We simply keep the berries soaking in the large jars while placing small amounts in 4 oz. bottles with droppers. You can also use 2 oz. bottles with droppers. After the initial 30 day period, daily shaking is not required.
Dosage: 1 teaspoon four to five times daily during infections.
