(Health Secrets) Medical marijuana or cannabis is making waves by healing cancer patients. But the threat posed by this natural healer goes further than the cancer industry. Cannabis is demonstrating real benefits to those with other diseases that mainstream medicine can’t remedy, starting with Crohn’s disease.
Crohn’s disease manifests with many debilitating symptoms that are autoimmune diseases in their own right. Crohn’s disease can even be lethal. Mainstream modern medicine “manages” Crohn’s with operations that remove vital organs or parts of the gastrointestinal tract, and it uses pharmaceuticals with side effects.
As restrictions against cannabis aka marijuana loosen, other anecdotal reports and scientific studies are showing that the healing ability of cannabis goes well beyond cancer, especially when ingesting the concentrated oil extract devised by Rick Simpson in Nova Scotia, Canada a few years ago that led to the production of a full length documentary titled Run from the Cure.
Real Life Examples of Treating Crohn’s disease with Cannabis
A dramatic example is Shona Banda. She was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease around 2004. She underwent several surgeries and was put on several pharmaceuticals, but her condition worsened progressively until she was considered terminal. She was bedridden and the food she managed to eat didn’t provide nutrition.
She began suffering from cachexia, a wasting away that accompanies chronic disease. She was waiting to die.
Her viewing of Rick Simpson’s Run from the Cure video documentary inspired Shona, until she realized she had no way to get enough hemp plant with THC to make the featured cannabis oil that had healed many Nova Scotians of not only cancer but several other maladies that were “incurable”. She lives in Kansas, not even a medical marijuana kind of state.
Shona was inhaling small amounts of marijuana from a vaporizer to help reduce her pain and increase her appetite. Vaporizing is less irritating to the lungs and throat and produces less tell-tale pot aromas. Her husband pointed out that the marijuana vapor residue inside the glass globe cover looked like cannabis oil. Shona started scraping it out and putting it into capsules for consumption three times daily.
After a very few days Shona could walk without a cane. Soon she began eating and sleeping better and putting on weight. It wasn’t long before she completely gave up all her pharmaceuticals. Now she is very healthy and active. Her journal of this journey became a published book, titled Live Free or Die.
And there is another documented remission from Crohn’s disease with marijuana, this time from a young California journalist and medical marijuana activist, Angela Bacca. She was reluctant to tell her story until the recent Israeli study was published that proved even smoking marijuana produces excellent Crohn’s remission results. She has an interesting attitude as you’ll see if you go to the “more information” section below.
The Israeli Hospital Study Using Smoked Cannabis for patients with Crohn’s disease
At the Meir Medical Center in Israel, 21 Crohn’s patients who were getting little or no results from orthodox medical treatments were separated into two groups for a double blind control study. One group of 11 was given two marijuana cigarettes daily which contained 23% THC and .5% CBD (cannabidiol) while the control group of 10 was given placebo cigarettes of marijuana without THC.
After eight weeks, five of the THC treated subjects showed remission, while another five had significant improvement without steroids. All 11 could eat and sleep better. Four members of the placebo group showed only slight improvements while the rest showed none. This study was published in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Keep in mind that significant results were obtained in this study using the least potent application of medical marijuana – smoking. Angela is a marijuana smoker who enjoys symptom relief whenever she needs it. But Shona achieved total remission from terminal Crohn’s disease with her makeshift version of cannabis oil, suggesting that a better brew of cannabis oil might be even more effective.
